C#, ASP, and MySQL Project on Student Helpdesk System
The Student Helpdesk System is designed to provide user assistance to students and staff members. This system offers a straightforward interface for maintaining student information, making it an essential tool for educational institutions. Accurate and up-to-date information management is crucial, and the Student Helpdesk System handles all types of student-related data. It employs user authentication to display necessary information for each student, featuring a comprehensive logging system to track user access and ensure data access guidelines are followed. This system aims to enhance the efficiency of the Student Helpdesk, reducing the effort required to access and deliver information.
The student web portal allows students to access profiles, marks, attendance details, and materials from a single, convenient location using one user ID and password. Students can also customize the portal to suit their needs.
Our project team was tasked with reporting on the benefits of developing such a student web portal for the college. We conducted interviews with students, staff, and faculty to gauge their interest and gather their input on desired features. We also researched best practices from other colleges with existing student web portals and proposed management models for the project. Additionally, we presented three potential user interfaces and suggested names for the student web portal.
The primary goal of the web portal is to transform the college's daily operations by reducing paperwork, increasing online information services and transactions, and streamlining access to information and content. By consolidating student services and functions into a single website, the portal makes it easier for students to find and use these services.
We gathered information through surveys, focus groups, and one-on-one interviews with students, faculty, and key personnel from other institutions with operational student portals.
Students expressed a desire for a user-friendly, secure portal that protects their privacy and is linked to a roles database to target information to specific student groups. The roles database is vital for the portal's success, allowing students, staff, and faculty with similar interests to connect. Concerns were raised about the need for adequate funding for the project.
